About The Position

About the unit 6 North is a Cardiovascular inpatient unit within Butterworth Hospital that specializes in caring for adult patients with Heart Failure, cardiac dysrhythmias, newly implanted pacemakers and defibrillators, pulmonary hypertension and cardiac conditions requiring medical treatment. Most patients receive continuous telemetry monitoring. Individuals would want to work on this unit do to the large variety of cardiovascular and progressive care experiences that allow for a robust skill set. The culture of this unit is team work and support. Staff works closely with physicians and other healthcare providers and services to provide optimal care in the inpatient setting.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent experience required.
• Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) Required within 90 days.
• Previous experience in patient care is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Act as a team member in the delivery of quality patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN).
• Take vitals, check blood sugars, bed bathing, ambulating, wound care, catheterization.
• Act as a safety attendant for patients.
• Articulate the nursing technician role to the patient, family and health team members.
• Provide support to facilitate safe, quality patient care in a cost-effective manner.
• Clean patient’s environment, work area, equipment and communicate any equipment malfunctions to appropriate department personnel.
• Demonstrate a high standard of moral and ethical behavior.
• Advocate for privacy, confidentiality and security of patient, staff and organization data.
