Requirements

  • Associates Degree in Nursing (e.g. ADN) required and actively pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or other-related field (e.g., BSN/BBA/BHA).
  • Minimum of two (2) years of clinical experience as a registered nurse.
  • Registered Nurse with current CA License.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) other credentials or credential modules may be required.
  • PALS certification required.
  • LA City Fire Card required within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Leads and supervises nursing staff during assigned shifts, fostering a collaborative and supportive environment.
  • Assigns patient care responsibilities based on patient acuity and nursing staff expertise, ensuring optimal patient outcomes.
  • Serves as a clinical resource and educator, assessing, monitoring, and training nursing staff on best practices in patient care.
  • Responds effectively to emergencies, initiating appropriate procedures and providing guidance to the team.
  • Proactively anticipates and addresses staffing needs, ensuring seamless patient care transitions.
  • Provides direct patient care as needed, demonstrating clinical expertise and compassion.
  • Oversees unit operations, including supply management and accurate patient record keeping, to ensure a smooth transition for subsequent shifts.
  • Actively engages with patients and families, fostering a positive and supportive care environment.
  • Attends leadership meetings, staying informed about new initiatives and areas for improvement, and effectively communicates this information to the team.
  • Monitors departmental productivity and efficiency, identifying opportunities for optimization.
  • Mentors and develops team members, sharing knowledge and fostering confidence in assistant nurse managers, charge nurses, and other staff.
  • Ensures the department is positioned to deliver the highest quality care to our patients.
