About The Position

Position Summary: The House Supervisor is responsible for all administrative management functions related to patient placement, the delivery of patient care and throughput functions, as well as the quality of nursing practice and the standards of care, throughout the Medical Center during off hours, weekends & holidays. The supervisor will work in collaboration with all Clinical Care Operations staff and provide support to all hospital units throughout the Medical Center while maintaining clinical nursing practice skills and unit specific expertise. Specific duties include leading staff, directing patient care activities, expediting and escalating concerns to senior leadership, liaising with patients and families, monitoring & facilitating bed placement, providing clinical support to all acute care units and the Emergency Department, and participating on performance improvement initiatives. Serves as a role model and clinical resource to colleagues, staff, patients, and Medical Center guests.

Requirements

  • Strong customer service orientation as well as written and oral communication skills
  • Minimum of 4 years recent clinical nursing experience in adult acute care, (within the last two years)
  • Knowledge of JCAHO and other regulatory requirements present in an acute care setting
  • Demonstrated supervisory experience working in an acute care setting
  • Current California RN license
  • Current BLS, ACLS & PALS certifications
  • Complete understanding of acuity levels for all patient populations
  • All external candidates must have a Bachelor of Science in Nursing
  • Ability to work variable shifts including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays

  • ANCC recognized RN certification uniquely applicable to this specific unit, (general certifications, such as WCC, will not be acceptable for meeting this requirement).
