About The Position

Position Summary: Under the direction of the Nurse Manager, the Assistant Nurse Manager is responsible for management functions related to the delivery of patient care, as well as the quality of nursing practice and the standards of care. Supervises and directs staff and functions in the unit while maintaining clinical nursing practice skills and unit specific expertise. Specific duties include managing Human Resources. directing patient care activities. monitoring unit budgets. and participating on departmental and medical center wide performance improvement projects. Serves as a role model and clinical resource to colleagues, staff, patients and others.

Requirements

  • Understanding of applicable regulatory requirements
  • RN Specialty Certification in a Critical Care related area
  • Must be able to demonstrate leadership skills by a minimum of three leadership roles/responsibilities within the last three years that demonstrate continued interest in personal development, the ability to mentor and provide constructive feedback, and the ability to lead a team to produce better outcomes. Demonstration of these skills may include excellence in leading a project, implementing a change project, teaching a skills lab, practice council chair, charge nurse, etc.
  • Must be able to cover Neuroscience ICU and Neuroscience Stepdown.
  • Minimum 4 years nursing experience in an ICU
  • Complete understanding of patient classification system & staffing requirements for the patient population
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing
  • Ability to work variable shifts including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System
  • Registered Nurse
  • Basic Life Support
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year experience in Neuroscience specialty area
