Greater Cincinnati Behavioral Health Services (GCBHS) has an immediate opening for a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) in our ACT program to provide nursing services to adults experiencing mental illness and substance use disorder in Hamilton County, OH. Specifically, GCB is a nonprofit behavioral health agency with over 600 staff members serving over 30,000 persons annually. Position Summary for RN: 1. Provides direct services to patients within a psychiatric nursing focus to include: Medication education including names of medications, dosages, action, side effects, risks, visual identification of psychiatric medications and the effect of substance abuse, allergies, medical history and drug interactions. Promotes holistic healthcare in collaboration with other disciplines. Takes the lead, along with the ACT Team Leader, in monitoring, collaborating and coordinating with Primary Care and Medical Specialists for chronic health conditions. Mental and physical health examination in relation to symptoms and psychiatric medications. Psychiatric medication administration including injections. Tracks client’s psychiatric medications refills or due date of injection, assessing effectiveness; actions, side effects and complications. Assisting in obtaining psychiatric medications when necessary. 2. The GCB nurse may serve as a coordinator in collaboration with other disciplines for coordination of patient care issues. Position Responsibilities for LPNs: 1. Perform duties under the direction of the medical prescribers, psychiatric prescribers and/or RN. 2. These duties include but are not limited to: vitals, phlebotomy, point-of-care labs and testing, vaccinations and psychiatric medication administration. 3. Prepare clients and assist physicians with patient exams and/or treatment; obtain vital signs, draw laboratory specimens. 4. Provide education and training to staff, family members and other significant patient supports related to illness, disease, and medications.
