About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) provides nursing care to patients utilizing the nursing process and standards of practice for a professional nurse. The RN is expected to perform all staff nurse activities and function as charge nurse when assigned. The RN maintains overall accountability/responsibility for assigned patients, even though some activities/tasks may be delegated to Technical Nurses, Patient Care Associates, and/or Sitters. Assignments are performed appropriately to age and developmental level of patients being served. All team members will be expected to work all areas of their unit. 3N RNs will be required to work MB, NBN, and attend deliveries. The LD RN will be required to work LD, WAC, LD PACU, and the LD OR. NICU/NICU SD will be required to work both areas. All Women Service team members will be required to float between units as needed to work within their scope of practice.

Requirements

  • Current IFM Certification
  • 1-2 years L+D experience
  • Associate's Degree (Graduate of an accredited school of nursing)
  • BSN degree from an accredited school of nursing within three (3) years of hire or transfer into the position (for new hires effective June 14, 2017, and subsequent hires)
  • Abide with the conditions in his or her offer letter and the verbiage in the job description signed upon hire or transfer into the position (for hires/transfers between August 1, 2013 and June 13, 2017)
  • Association of Women's Health, Obstetric, and Neonatal Nurses Fetal Heart Monitoring (AWHONN FHM) Intermediate or Advanced by 07/01/2019 (for current employees effective 07/01/2018)
  • AWHONN FHM Intermediate or Advanced within one (1) year of hire or transfer if no previous training (for new hires and transfers)
  • Recertify fetal monitoring every two years with the required divisional update based on the available learning assigned (effective 3-1-2021)
  • Licensed to practice nursing in the state of Florida
  • BLS from the American Heart Association
  • ACLS within 6 months of hire or transfer (effective 11/20/2025, applies to specific units)
  • NRP within 6 months of hire or transfer (applies to specific units)
  • STABLE (Sugar, Temperature, Airway, Blood pressure, Lab work, Emotional support) by 07/01/2019 (for current employees effective 07/01/2018)
  • STABLE within 6 months of hire or transfer (for new hires and transfers)
  • Recertify STABLE every two years based on the date of the most recent certification and within 72 hours of the end of the month of they were certified
  • Fellowship RN's must obtain their ACLS and NRP within six (6) months of hire or transfer
  • Crisis Prevention Institute training within ninety (90) days, and then annually (required for Psych Unit)
  • 1-2 years of med/surg or related experience
  • Demonstrates teamwork and communicates in a professional manner with all members of the healthcare team
  • Demonstrates the ability to learn and apply computer technologies and procedures that affect patient care delivery
