About the position

The RN Manager will lead quality improvement initiatives, coordinate staff training, and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to enhance patient outcomes. This position requires a dedicated leader who can effectively manage resources, foster a supportive work environment, and engage with the community to address diverse healthcare needs. The RN Manager is responsible for overseeing the nursing staff and ensuring the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care. This role involves managing clinical operations in collaboration with the medical director, implementing nursing protocols, and ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and support nursing staff, including RNs, LPNs, and MAs.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations, providing constructive feedback and coaching to enhance staff development.
  • Manage staffing schedules to ensure adequate coverage and optimize resource utilization.
  • Ensure adherence to clinical protocols and standards of care to maintain high-quality patient services.
  • Collaborate with physicians and nurse practitioners to refine and optimize patient care plans.
  • Assist with patient triage to prioritize care based on patient needs and ensure efficient workflow in a fast-paced environment.
  • Administer vaccines and other medications as needed, particularly during staff shortages or to maintain optimal patient flow.
  • Monitor clinical flow to ensure operational efficiency, identifying and addressing any bottlenecks in the process.
  • Collaborate with nursing staff to address immediate patient care requirements and facilitate seamless operations.
  • Support the management team in implementing strategies to enhance patient care and departmental efficiency.
  • Develop and implement initiatives aimed at improving patient care outcomes and enhancing service quality.
  • Address and resolve eCW web encounters promptly and effectively.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as FQHC-specific guidelines.
  • Prepare for and actively participate in audits, TJC surveys and inspections to maintain operational integrity.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical documentation and records to uphold accountability.
  • Collaborate with the education and training department to reinforce protocols and standards that drive high-quality patient outcomes.
  • Identify training needs to foster a culture of continuous learning and professional development within the nursing team.
  • Participate in the hiring process to select qualified nursing personnel.
  • Engage in new hire orientation and onboarding processes to ensure a smooth transition for nursing staff.
  • Foster a patient-centered approach to care that actively involves patients and their families in decision-making processes.
  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance patient education and improve health literacy, empowering patients to take an active role in their care.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Nursing Degree from an accredited institution, BSN preferred.
  • Currently registered to practice as a Registered Nurse in New York State.
  • Current CPR certificate or plan to attend a CPR training course within six (6) months of employment.
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of clinical nursing experience.
  • One (1) to two (2) years in a supervisory or management role preferred.
  • Experience in a primary care or community health setting, preferably within an FQHC.
