About The Position

The Extended Flex RN provides nursing care to patients utilizing the nursing process and standards of practice for a professional nurse. The Extended Flex RN must comply with all license, certification, and training requirements required in those units. The Extended Flex RN is expected to perform all staff nurse activities and function as charge nurse when assigned. The Extended Flex RN maintains overall accountability/responsibility for assigned patients, even though some activities/tasks may be delegated to Technical Nurses, Patient Care Associates, and/or Sitters. Assignments are performed appropriately to age and developmental level of patients being served. The Extended Flex RN will be required to float to ICU/other areas holding ICU level patients, i.e. PACU, ED-ICU pod, Interventional Radiology, etc. The Extended Flex RN may also be required to operate in emergency response role as Rapid Response Team. The Extended Flex RN will be required to float to non-ICU or Specialty units based on staffing needs and conditions of the hospital.

Requirements

• Associate's degree in nursing from an accredited school.
• Licensed to practice nursing in the State of Florida.
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
• ACLS certification from the American Heart Association.
• PALS certification from the American Heart Association required within six months of hire or transfer.
• 1-2 years of acute care experience.
• 3-5 years of critical care experience.

Nice To Haves

• BSN degree from an accredited school of nursing (required within three years of hire).
• Professional certification preferred.
• Crisis Prevention Institute training within ninety days, and then annually, is required for Psych Unit.
• 3-5 years of Critical Care and Emergency Department experience preferred.

Responsibilities
