About The Position

The Nurse Resident has the responsibility of attending all quality and core curriculum classes, actively participating in professional development workshops and peer support groups, and successfully completing all clinical competencies and validation requirements of the Nurse Residency Program. The Nurse Resident is responsible for planning and delivering professional nursing care, collaborating and communicating with multidisciplinary team members, the patient, and family to advance the patient along the optimal continuum of care.

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree
Graduate from an accredited, state approved school of nursing program.
Clinical experience as an RN or in a supportive role in an acute care environment
Clinical assessment and critical thinking skills necessary to provide appropriate patient care
Strong verbal and written communication

Responsibilities

Provides patient care services utilizing the nursing process
Performs care planning activities utilizing assessment data or input from all team members encompassing individual patient needs throughout the continuum of care
Demonstrates the ability for decision making by integrating theoretical knowledge with practical experience in caring for patients
Provides treatments or administers medications as directed within the scope of practice of the registered nurse
Alters plan of care based on ongoing assessments
Documents patient condition, vital statistics, interventions, medications, diagnosis, patient responses, prescribed treatments, and treatment changes
Assists physicians during examinations and procedures
Orders, performs, or interprets the results of diagnostic tests and screening procedures based on assessment results, differential diagnoses, and knowledge about age, gender, and health status
Ensures efficient, quality patient outcomes through the implementation of the plan of care and effective use of all available resources
Communicates health care needs with patient, family, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal care
Maintains compliance with organizations policies, as well as established practices, protocols, and procedures of the position, department, and applicable professional standards
Adheres to infection-control policies and protocols, medication administration and storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations
Maintains competency and knowledge of current standards of practice, trends, and developments in related scope of job role or practice
Maintains hospital standards for a clean and quiet patient environment to maintain a positive patient care experience
Promotes culture of safety for patients and employees through proper identification, reporting, documentation, and prevention
Provides a culture of safety in order to maintain a positive patient care experience
Communicates health care needs with patient and family as appropriate for continuance of care
Facilitates patient education and discharge planning utilizing multidisciplinary resources
Discusses illnesses and treatments with patients and family members
Assures daily accurate, concise reporting, and documentation of patients condition and needs with appropriate follow-up
Delegates and communicates patient care needs to appropriate team members based on skill, knowledge, and patient acuity
