About The Position
At Henry Ford Hospital, all nurses strive to provide exceptional patient care every day. They are encouraged to participate in quality assurance activities, research and shared governance to make a difference in the care given to patients and families. Henry Ford Nursing uses evidence-based practice, professional practice standards and the Henry Ford Hospital Professional Nurse Practice Model to drive nursing practice. The Henry Ford Health Nurse Residency Program is designed to assist the novice nurse transitioning from entry-level advanced beginner to competent professional nurse. The twelve-month program will be facilitated by academic and clinical faculty/preceptors engaged in the progressive development of critical thinking and clinical reasoning skills. The Nurse Residency program supports the novice nurse in the delivery of safe, quality care within a collaborative interprofessional healthcare team environment. Additional support will be provided to the nurse residents in the form of peer groups, competency reviews and workshops. The nurse resident interprets the philosophy and goals of Henry Ford Health to others in the work setting; functions within established guidelines and demonstrates the ability to work effectively and develop therapeutic relationships with patients, their families and other professional and supportive personnel who provide patient care. Nurse residents will also participate in finding solutions for variances from patient goals and engage in implementation of solutions promoting optimum patient outcomes.
