About The Position

The Nurse Resident – Medical/Surgical will actively participate in a 12-month clinical education opportunity designed to develop a professional nurse with a broad foundation in Pediatric Nursing, and strengthen critical thinking and clinical judgment abilities. The Nurse Resident will deliver competent and skilled care to patients and families with a team-orientation and with an emphasis on good customer relations. It is important to review ALL of the requirements for the Nurse Residency program. Complete the online application for the specialty track of choice. Nurse Residency Program (cookchildrens.org) October 2026 Cohort: Applicants must graduate with a BSN between May 2026 – August 2026 Applicants may only apply to one of the two tracks. Applications close on April 1, 2026 at 5:00 PM Central Time. No documents are accepted after the deadline. Please be advised that no documents are accepted until March 11, 2026. Applicant eligibility Graduate of an accredited baccalaureate nursing program (BSN) or an entry-level master's of nursing program (MSN) Must apply as first professional nursing role Must pass the NCLEX prior to the start of the residency Must have a minimum 2.5 GPA to be considered Disqualifications : Associate degree with: Prior work experience as a professional nurse Without BSN or entry-level MSN Must graduate within the time frame listed above Applicants who have previously applied to the nurse residency program are ineligible to reapply Application documents received after the deadline will not be considered Applicants may only apply to one of the two tracks. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
  • Current license or eligible for licensure to practice Nursing in Texas
  • AHA BLS Card
  • Applicants must graduate with a BSN between May 2026 – August 2026
  • Graduate of an accredited baccalaureate nursing program (BSN) or an entry-level master's of nursing program (MSN)
  • Must apply as first professional nursing role
  • Must pass the NCLEX prior to the start of the residency
  • Must have a minimum 2.5 GPA to be considered
