About The Position

The Nurse Residency Program: Progressive Care Track at ChristianaCare is designed for senior nursing students, recent graduates, and new RNs to transition into professional nursing roles. This structured program, accredited by the American Nurses Credentialing Center, focuses on enhancing competency, reducing errors, and increasing job satisfaction through a combination of lecture, simulation education, and preceptor-led clinical experiences. Participants will gain hands-on training in intermediate or transitional care units, preparing them to care for medically complex patients in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

• Graduating from an accredited nursing school (BSN preferred).
• BLS certification required.
• Less than 12 months of nursing experience by the start of the program.
• Eligible for Delaware license as a Graduate Nurse/Registered Nurse or RN license from a compact state.

• Experience in a clinical setting during nursing education.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Complete preceptor-led training on intermediate or transitional level step-down units.
• Participate in residency meetings during months 6, 8, 10, and 12 to further develop nursing skills.
• Engage in lecture and simulation education to enhance critical thinking and evidence-based practice.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure quality and safety in patient care.
• Sign a commitment agreement to work at ChristianaCare for a minimum of 15 months after program completion.
