Responsibilities

• Provides direct care to patients and makes necessary nursing judgments.
• Systematically assesses the health care needs of individuals or groups and formulates a care plan, its implementation, and evaluation.
• Demonstrates decision-making ability by integrating theoretical knowledge with practical experience in patient care.
• Coordinates patient care and directs assistive personnel to ensure safe and effective care.
• Develops collegial relationships with other health professionals to determine healthcare needs.
• Learns to build trust and respect with patients and families.
• Communicates effectively in the exchange of information.
• Acts as a patient advocate and maintains annual mandatory education requirements.
• Identifies needs for continued growth and development in conjunction with the unit-based educator or clinical nurse specialist.
• Demonstrates commitment to patients, staff, and the Medical Center.
