About The Position

The Portland VA Health Care System (VAPORHCS), Portland, Oregon, is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) Quality Management Consultant (QMC) who demonstrates leadership, experience, and creative approaches to improvement in quality-of-care outcomes. The RN QMC demonstrates performance and leadership that is broad enough to improve the care for a group of patients. Portland is a port city in the Pacific Northwest and the most populous city in the U.S. state of Oregon. Situated in the northwestern area of the state at the confluence of the Willamette and Columbia rivers. Portland is known for having the amenities of a major city (such as an international airport, an efficient public transit system, major league sports teams and many museums and art galleries) and the charms of a small city (such as plentiful arts and crafts fairs, independent bookstores and local traditions like the annual Rose Festival Parade). Rain or shine, you can take advantage of the city's proximity to nature by playing in the Willamette River, wandering through lush public parks and gardens, biking the city's 162 miles (261 km) of bike lanes and hiking trails both within city limits and in the nearby Columbia River Gorge. The Nurse Quality Management Consultant (QMC) is assigned responsibility for their assigned quality management program area activities for the Medical Center and all off-site locations.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse (RN) Quality Management Consultant (QMC) who demonstrates leadership, experience, and creative approaches to improvement in quality-of-care outcomes.
  • Demonstrates performance and leadership that is broad enough to improve the care for a group of patients.
  • 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory

Responsibilities

  • Collects data, monitors staff compliance with relevant policies, directives, and standards, provides reports detailing trends, and provides direct staff support to all services in planning, designing, integrating, implementing, modifying, and administering, a comprehensive quality management program area.
  • Provides guidance and direction to Division Leadership regarding external review readiness (The Joint Commission, Office of General Inspector, and other accrediting agencies).
  • Participate in several facility councils, committees, and workgroups.
  • Executes the position responsibilities that demonstrate effective leadership, detailed planning, professional communication, creative and innovative approaches to the improvement of safety/healthcare program development and possess an ability to organizepriorities.
  • Works in concert with leaders and others to sustain a culture of safety, modeling High Reliability Organization (HRO) practices.
  • Performs duties directly contributing to high quality and safe patient care within the Veterans Health Administration (VHA).
  • Ability to apply specialized principles and practices to ensure a systems approach to healthcare delivery.
  • Directly supports facility leadership in areas of planning, organization, development, direction, and evaluation of the quality program within the facility.
