About The Position

Sun River Health is seeking a full-time Nurse Practitioner to join its team at the Peekskill site. The role involves planning, evaluating, and delivering healthcare services to patients, with a focus on preventative health measures and patient education. The Nurse Practitioner will work under the direction of a physician and is responsible for various clinical duties, including patient assessments, treatment prescriptions, and maintaining documentation.

Requirements

• Master's Degree in Nursing or related field.
• Valid license as a Nurse Practitioner in New York State.
• 5-8 years of work experience, including 4 years in a business office, preferably in a large medical practice.
• Knowledge of diagnostic and treatment procedures relevant to nurse practitioners.
• Competence in delivering healthcare and preventative health education to patients.
• Ability to collaborate with other health center members to maintain high quality standards.

Nice To Haves

• Bilingual in both English and Spanish (orally and written).
• 8+ years of work experience in a healthcare setting.

Responsibilities

• Takes patient histories and performs physical examinations.
• Administers immunizations as necessary and provides patient education and counseling.
• Orders appropriate lab work and performs some lab tests such as wet prep microscopic exams.
• Prescribes treatment for minor illnesses and consults with physicians regarding medication and referrals.
• Maintains legible and appropriate documentation and reviews records periodically.
• Follows up on abnormal pap smears and reportable STDs.
• Attends case conferences involving patients and continuing education programs.
• Participates in quality improvement programs and team assignments.
• Identifies and categorizes each patient's age-specific needs, including infants, adolescents, and geriatric patients.
• Follows OSHA standards of infection control under CDC guidelines.
