From a Level 1 Trauma Center to the #2 Rehabilitation Hospital in the country, to our partnership with the Houston Rockets, you’ll work alongside top healthcare professionals. This Heart Failure ICU Nurse Practitioner role is based at the Texas Medical Center and is responsible for providing comprehensive patient care through systemic assessment, diagnosis, treatment, management, and follow-up. Patient populations include VV/VA ECMO, Mechanical Circulatory Support, Heart & Lung Transplants, LVAD, and post-op cardiac surgery . Credentialing: 2–3 months Training: Full device training provided
Requirements
- AGACNP (Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner) required
- Current Texas nursing license
- Board certification (ANCC, AANP, or AACN Acute Care NP)
- BLS & ACLS certifications
- Minimum 2 years of RN or NP experience in Critical Care/ICU
- Cardiology or cardiac care experience preferred
- New NPs must have 2+ years of ICU RN experience
Nice To Haves
- Experience with heart failure population
- Prior Acute Care NP experience
- Cardiovascular & Heart Failure ICU RN background
Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in alignment with the Texas Nurse Practice Act and Memorial Hermann Standards of Care.
- Manage critically ill cardiac patients, including advanced devices and transplant populations.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to support patient recovery and continuity of care.
- Participate in the Professional Nurse Advancement Program.
- Maintain reliable attendance and contribute to a culture of excellence and compassion.
