About The Position

The Nurse Practitioner is a Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner and a member of the Local MD Urgent Care delivery team. Staff NP is responsible for setting the standards for the level and quality of care. The Staff NP has responsibility, authority, and accountability for care provision through consultation and collaboration with a physician/Medical Director. The Staff NP manages and provides management of health problems, coordination of healthcare including administering physical exams, diagnosing, and treating illness/injuries and prescribing medications for patients and their families through the application of independent judgment, professional communication, and collaboration with all team members. The role of the Staff NP encompasses the beginnings of leadership, partnership, collaboration, and supervision. The Staff NP establishes and maintains collaborative relationships with physicians, Local MD Urgent Care, patients, and their families, to achieve desired patient outcomes throughout the continuum of care. The NP promotes excellence in care and provides expertise in clinical practice, education, consultant services, and clinical research.

Requirements

  • Advanced Practice Registered Nurse Licensure in Illinois
  • Registered Professional Nurse Licensure in Illinois
  • Controlled Substance Licensure in Illinois
  • Drug Enforcement Agency Registration
  • Nationally Recognized Certification from the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Certification Board or American Nurses Credentialing Center
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • DOT Certification (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration Certified Medical Examiner)
  • Master's Degree or Doctor of Nursing Practice in Nurse Practitioner with a specialization in Family Nurse Practitioner
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent

Responsibilities

  • Performs initial patient screening, patient history, and physical examinations, establishing baseline health profiles. Analyzes test data and determines the need for follow-up appointments and further treatment options.
  • Diagnoses or treats acute and chronic Healthcare problems such as illnesses, infections, or injuries; prescribes medications based on efficacy, safety, and cost as legally authorized.
  • Recommends designated on-site and off-site professional Healthcare services and medical care to patients, within the scope of specialty training.
  • Educates patients/family members/guardians about self-management of acute or chronic illnesses, tailoring instructions to patients' individual circumstances.
  • Prepares specific, accurate and timely medical records using EMR technology per Local MD standards. Leverages EMR for documentation, medication, diagnostic orders, and referrals.
  • Provides medical direction, education, and training to staff who assist or support Provider in the delivery of services.
  • Build positive and professional rapport with patients through empathetic, respectful, and thorough interactions.
  • Work effectively as a member of the Provider team.
  • Work collaboratively with all Local Urgent Care staff.
  • Serves as a role model by demonstrating exceptional communication, punctuality, ability, and willingness to take on new and additional responsibilities.

  • Responsible for own ongoing professional development by maintaining appropriate licensure/ certification, continuing education requirements, participates in available learning opportunities.
  • Maintains knowledge of the Local MD Urgent Care standards, policies, and procedures, including Local MD Urgent Care's Policy and Procedure handbooks.
