The Nurse Practitioner provides comprehensive nursing and medical care, assessing the physical and emotional needs of patients and their families. This role involves planning and delivering specific health care services, providing medical treatment and advice, and securing patient case histories. The Nurse Practitioner performs patient examinations, utilizes and interprets laboratory and x-ray diagnostic tests, diagnoses ailments, and carries out necessary follow-up treatments. They are responsible for referring patients whose needs fall outside their scope of practice for consultation or treatment confirmation. The position includes prescribing and dispensing medications according to protocol and state licensure, and directing or participating in preventive health programs like immunizations and disease detection. The Nurse Practitioner adheres to CVHS contract provisions, bylaws, and principles of practice, maintaining high standards of professional behavior and engaging in continuing professional education. They also provide health maintenance education to patients and community groups, participate in quality assurance programs, and consult with collaborating physicians as needed. Administrative, supervisory, and teaching duties may be assigned, and the role requires maintaining complete and orderly medical records. This is a full-time position in a high-volume, team-oriented practice with an on-call rotation.
