About The Position

The nurse practitioner (NP) works in collaboration with the physician within the scope of practice guidelines agreed upon by the collaborating parties. Responsible for providing health care to patients and families, focusing on health maintenance, disease prevention, patient education and counseling.

Requirements

Must have a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Doctor of Nursing (DNP)
Current license as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in State of Louisiana
Current BSLS/ACLS certifications
Eligible for Prescriptive Authority in the state of Louisiana as outlined by the State Board Nursing
Experience in evaluating and treating patients in a Physician office setting.
Computer literacy

Abides by all federal, state, and regulatory guidelines.
Accurately evaluates new patients, follow-up patients, and/or postoperative patients in person or via phone and provides appropriate advice, intervention or referral.
Evaluate and clarify clinical conditions, formulate and implement a treatment or therapeutic plan for hospitalized patients, dictate discharge summaries, histories and physicals, as needed for specialty.
Order, prescribe, dispense, and administer medication, orthotics, braces and other devices as may be allowed by state legislation.
Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Working knowledge of Advanced Practice Provider policies and protocols at a department and campus/system level.
Makes responsible decisions within the scope of practice.
Other office work as needed.
