About The Position

Under the general supervisor of the assigned leader and clinical supervision of a licensed physician, the Nurse Practitioner (NP) will diagnose and treat health conditions, as well as promote good health practices ensuring the best patient care possible. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: conducting physical examinations, interpreting lab tests, and overseeing patients' health. Support disease prevention practices and help people lead healthy lives. May be assigned to one or more of the following specialties: acute care, urgent care, neonatal care, pediatrics, cardiology, family medicine, orthopedics. Examine patients and their medical records; order and study diagnostic tests (blood tests, X-rays etc.); diagnose health conditions and illnesses; propose treatments for chronic and infectious diseases; prescribe medications; maintain accurate records and schedules; inform patients about their health conditions and prescribed medications; educate patients and their family members on diseases, epidemics, and prevention. Oversees patients' overall health. Knowledge of health and patient care regulations. Works collaboratively with physician counterparts to manage the health care needs for specified patient populations. Functions as an active member of a multi-disciplinary team to coordinate efforts that maximize clinical and financial outcomes. Ability to speak and read English at a level that is sufficient to satisfactorily perform the essential functions of the position. Knowledge of standard office equipment (i.e., calculator, fax, photocopier) and personal computer and computer software skills (i.e., MS Windows, Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint, internet, e-mail). Windows computer skills including proficient use of keyboarding, use of mouse or keys for functions such as selecting items, use of drop-down menus, scroll bars, opening folders, copying and similar operations required upon employment or within the 1st two weeks of employment to perform the essential functions of the job. Performs other duties as assigned. Follows Palomar Health Medical Group rules, policies, procedures, applicable laws, and standards. Requirements

  • Minimum Education: As required by certification and/or licensure
  • Minimum Experience: 0 - 1+ years work with adult patients as Nurse Practitioner
  • Required License: Current CA Nurse Practitioner License, Current CA RN License
  • Required Certification: CA State Certification as a Nurse Practitioner (ANCC or AANP) with National Certification
  • American Heart Association recognized BLS - Healthcare Provider
  • Ability to speak and read English at a level that is sufficient to satisfactorily perform the essential functions of the position
