About The Position

The Nurse Practitioner (Psychiatric) provides direct behavioral health care to adults, adolescents, and children in outpatient and facility-based settings. This role integrates psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, medication management, and patient education into compassionate, evidence-based care. The Nurse Practitioner collaborates closely with the supervising psychiatrist and interdisciplinary team to ensure high-quality, compliant, and coordinated treatment for every patient served.

Requirements

  • Master’s or Doctorate Degree in Nursing with specialization in Psychiatric/Mental Health (PMHNP or equivalent).
  • Active, unrestricted Nurse Practitioner (CRNP) license in Alabama.
  • Current DEA registration and Alabama Controlled Substance Registration (CSR).
  • Minimum of 1–2 years of psychiatric or behavioral health clinical experience preferred.
  • Credentialed or eligible for credentialing with major insurance carriers (Remedy’s credentialing staff assists with enrollment).
  • Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills in psychiatric and behavioral health settings.
  • Ability to prescribe and manage psychotropic medications safely and effectively.
  • Proficiency in EMR/EHR documentation (Practice Fusion experience a plus).
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Sound judgment, ethical integrity, and adherence to confidentiality standards.
  • Commitment to providing patient-centered, trauma-informed care.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct psychiatric evaluations and comprehensive assessments to diagnose and manage behavioral health disorders.
  • Prescribe, monitor, and adjust medications in accordance with the Collaborative Practice Agreement and the Alabama Nurse Practice Act.
  • Develop and maintain individualized treatment plans based on patient needs, clinical findings, and best practices.
  • Collaborate with therapists, case managers, and facility staff to ensure coordinated and integrated care.
  • Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, and medication management.
  • Order and interpret laboratory and diagnostic tests as clinically appropriate.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records, including assessments, progress notes, treatment plans, and billing documentation, in compliance with Remedy and state/federal standards.
  • Participate in quality assurance and compliance activities, ensuring all clinical documentation meets Remedy’s 72-hour completion requirement.
  • Communicate effectively with partner facilities, ensuring continuity of care and adherence to regulatory guidelines.
  • Maintain professional boundaries and ethical standards in all patient interactions.
  • Perform additional duties as requested to support the clinical and administrative operations of Remedy Behavioral Health.
  • Complies with all federal, state, and company regulations, including HIPAA, confidentiality, and billing standards.
  • Participates in required orientation, compliance, and continuing education programs.
  • Promptly reports suspected incidents of non-compliance to the appropriate supervisor or HIPAA Officer.
  • Cooperates with audits, investigations, and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Engages in ongoing professional development, maintaining clinical competencies and credentials.
