About The Position

The Nurse Practitioner (NP) supports the doctors' work and actively facilitates patients’ recovery, serving as the primary medical representative of the practice. The NP is available for patient questions or concerns Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM, and assists Medical Assistants as requested by physicians. This role involves applying medical techniques and principles under the direction of a physician, providing care and encouragement to a diverse patient population. Key responsibilities include supporting the pain management physician and delivering comprehensive care to patients before, during, and after surgical procedures, which encompasses performing physical exams, analyzing diagnostic tests, and educating patients on treatment options. The position requires excellent communication skills and compassion for interacting with patients who may be anxious or worried.

Requirements

  • Proven work experience as a Nurse Practitioner.
  • Knowledge of medical guidelines and procedures regarding examination, therapy, and recovery, while demonstrating a caring and compassionate demeanor.

  • Must be currently licensed as a registered nurse in the state of Texas.

Responsibilities

  • Support the doctors’ work and actively facilitate patients’ recovery.
  • Serve as the primary medical representative of the practice.
  • Be available for any patient questions or concerns between 8-5 Monday – Friday.
  • Assist with the work of the MA pursuant to the physicians’ requests.
  • Apply medical techniques and principles under the direction of a physician.
  • Deal with a diverse set of patients offering them care and encouragement.
  • Support the pain management physician and provide care to patients before, during, and after surgical procedures.
  • Perform physical exams.
  • Analyze diagnostic tests.
  • Educate patients about treatment options.
  • Assess patients’ health and their demands and aim to fulfill them as well as possible.
  • Write orders in the recovery room, talk with family, visit patients, and perform post-op procedures.
  • Issue appropriate prescriptions and administer medicine.
  • Inform physicians about any problems or discrepancies that might arise.
  • Acquire and review patient histories identifying abnormal conditions.
  • Monitor patients’ progress and keep records of treatments, surgeries or other medical events.
  • Prepare patients for examinations and conduct routine procedures (measure blood pressure and temperature, administer injections etc.).
  • Cultivate a climate of trust and compassion for the patients.
  • Comply strictly with medical care regulations and safety standards.
  • Monitor and guide activities of practice staff to ensure smooth patient flow.
  • Monitor and adjust workflows to ensure timely collection of revenues for in-office treatment and procedures.
  • Maintain constructive working relationships with staff, physicians, patients, and other contacts.
  • Assist with all clinic functions including but limited to answering phones, scheduling appointments, and entering charges.
