The Ragon Institute of MGB, MIT, and Harvard is seeking a highly motivated Nurse Practitioner to serve as Clinical Operations Manager overseeing multiple immunology and infectious disease research protocols. This candidate will supervise daily activities of a team of clinical research coordinators to meet Institute enrollment targets while ensuring regulatory and safety standards. Specimens collected on these protocols include blood, swabs, stool, tissue, and other specimens. The Clinic Operations Manager will work closely with Regulatory Manager on submitting amendments, reporting adverse and other events, and continuing reviews. This candidate will work with investigators within the Institute to draft, budget for, and operationalize new protocols. This candidate will also serve as Financial Delegate on several funding sources. The Clinical Operations Manager additionally serves as Co-investigator on several protocols. The Nurse Practitioner (NP) is a licensed provider. The NP is responsible for the assessment and management of various populations of patients, medical and/or surgical, including diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, development of appropriate plans of care and ongoing evaluation. May also perform additional duties, such as precepting a small group of learners.
Requirements
- Master's Degree Nursing required
- Registered Nurse MA
- Nurse Practitioner MA
- 2 years of licensed nurse practitioner experience required
- Skilled in taking medical histories to assess medical condition and interpret findings.
- Ability to maintain quality control standards.
- Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
- Ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures.
- Ability to communicate clearly and establish/maintain effective working relationships with patients, medical staff and the public.
Responsibilities
- Consenting study participants
- Reviewing health history and medical records
- Prescreening eligibility review
- Signing off on eligibility labs and ordering procedures
- Assessing and approving study eligibility
- Performing clinical procedures including physical assessment, phlebotomy, and pelvic exams with cervical biopsy collection, including biopsies of the cervix and vagina
- Liaise with ancillary clinics at MGH and BWH (including Infectious Disease, Blood Transfusion Services, Gastroenterology, Dept of Surgery and ORs at MGH and MGH Waltham)
- Provides direct care, counseling, and teaching to a designated patient population in the ambulatory, inpatient, operative, and/or procedural setting.
- Performs complete histories and physical examinations.
- Orders, interprets, and evaluates appropriate laboratory and diagnostic tests.
- Develops appropriate plans of care and follow-up based on the outcomes of diagnostic, laboratory, and physical examination findings.
- Orders medications and writes prescriptions according to organizational and regulatory policies and procedures.
- Consistently provides high quality and timely documentation including admission and progress notes, procedure notes, operative notes and discharge summaries.
- Performs bedside procedures as are appropriate to the patient population.
