Let us introduce ourselves Since 1971, the Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board has provided the highest quality of behavioral health services to residents of the cities of Hampton and Newport News, Virginia, offering a comprehensive array of programs for both children and adults living with mental illness, developmental disabilities, and/or substance use disorders. The agency proudly opened the BJ Roberts Behavioral Health Center in April 2025 to increase access to services for individuals experiencing behavioral health crises. about this role As a Nurse Practitioner, you will play a vital role in delivering comprehensive medical care within our Residential Crisis Stabilization Center at the BJ Roberts Behavioral Health Center. Key responsibilities include: Conducting complete medical histories and physical examinations (H&P) for individuals experiencing behavioral health and/or substance use disorder crises Completing H&P assessments within 24 hours of admission, typically between 7:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. Collaborating closely with a multidisciplinary treatment team to develop appropriate and individualized care recommendations Ensuring a safe, supportive, and clinically sound environment for clients during their recovery journey Accurately documenting clinical findings using electronic health record systems Your clinical expertise and professional judgment are essential to maintaining the highest standard of care for individuals during critical moments of stabilization. What matters most To excel in the Nurse Practitioner you must have proficiency in using healthcare software tools will enhance your ability to document patient information accurately and efficiently. Additionally, demonstrating empathy and a commitment to safety will enable you to provide compassionate care in high-pressure environments. Strong organizational skills will be necessary to manage time effectively during the H&P process, ensuring compliance with the requirement that assessments occur within 24 hours of admission.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by the Virginia Board of Nursing
  • Autonomous Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) license issued by the Virginia Board of Nursing

Responsibilities
