The Wound Care Registered Nurse Practitioner Nurse (RNP) is a position assigned to Ambulatory Care Services. The nurse practitioner consults with physicians, managers, and staff for the care management of wound/ostomy patients. This role shall also assist with the Organization’s Wound/Ostomy Program implementation, relating to the treatment and prevention of wound/ostomy care. As directed by the supervising MD, the NP is responsive to the needs of patients and employees and meet the requirements of the Joint Commission, Title 22, OSHA, and all other regulatory organizations. The incumbent is a wound and ostomy care expert and is an accessible Nurse Leader who reports directly to the Director of Wound Care at the Washington Center for Wound Healing and Hyperbarics Medicine. The major duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: · Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates interdisciplinary plans of care for all referred patients with wound/ostomy/continence issues. · Performs specialized procedures, such removal of devitalized tissue, removal of sutures and other procedures as per specialty training, referring complex cases to appropriate treating specialty. · Writes wound care dressing orders and supplies for inpatients and outpatients. · Refers patient to necessary outpatient clinics for continued care in addition to performing the essential functions listed below, may also be assigned other duties as required.
