About The Position

The Nurse Practitioner specializing in Wound Care will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care in the East Chicago, IN area. This role requires a graduate of an accredited Nursing program with a Master's degree in Nursing. The position demands a minimum of 3 years of nursing experience, with 5 years preferred, and the candidate must be a licensed Registered Nurse in the State of Indiana. The Nurse Practitioner will need prescriptive authority privileges and board certification to obtain the necessary hospital privileges for employment. CPR certification is also required. The ideal candidate will convey a positive attitude and image both internally within the Community Healthcare System and externally within the community. They will possess excellent patient assessment and critical thinking skills, with the ability to analyze and creatively solve patient care issues proactively. The role requires self-direction, leadership, delegation, organization, and teaching abilities, along with effective communication skills with various stakeholders including physicians, patients, families, and nursing staff. The Nurse Practitioner must demonstrate professionalism, flexibility, and a willingness to go the extra mile, while also having a thorough knowledge of nursing theory, medical care, and pharmacologic agents used in patient treatments.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Nursing program; Masters of Nursing degree required
  • Minimum of 3 years nursing experience required; 5 years preferred
  • Licensed Registered Nurse in the State of Indiana
  • Prescriptive authority privileges in State of Indiana
  • Board Certification is required to be granted necessary hospital privileges for employment
  • CPR certification required
  • Excellent patient assessment and critical thinking skills

  • Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practice and medical care
  • Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care
  • Knowledge of medications and their effects on patients
  • Knowledge of patient education principles to develop a self-care program
  • Skills in anticipating and reacting calmly to emergency work situations
  • Able to prioritize patients according to their clinical needs
  • Strong time management skills to balance both patient care and chart completion
  • Thorough knowledge of pharmacologic agents used in patient treatments
  • Strong decision making and practice skills
