About The Position

The Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant will provide sexual and reproductive health care services to a diverse population under the supervision of the Associate Medical Director. Responsibilities include conducting gynecological exams, screening and treating STIs, providing pregnancy options counseling, contraceptive advice and prescriptions, gender affirming hormone therapy, prenatal care, and managing early pregnancy complications. The role also involves providing abortion care services, including medication abortion and patient counseling, as well as assisting with moderate sedation and recovery area supervision. The position requires adherence to PPDE Medical Protocols and compliance with PPFA Medical Standards and Guidelines.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing or physician assistant program.
  • Current Delaware license as an advanced practice registered nurse or physician assistant with prescriptive privileges.
  • Delaware Controlled Substance Registration and DEA license required.
  • Minimum of zero to two years’ experience as an advanced practice nurse or physician assistant.
  • Experience in family planning clinical settings preferred.
  • National Certification or current Medicare/Medicaid number.

Responsibilities

  • Perform medical screening procedures for PPDE clients.
  • Conduct physical examinations for sexual and reproductive health conditions.
  • Refer clients with abnormal conditions to appropriate medical personnel.
  • Order and interpret routine laboratory tests.
  • Develop follow-up plans for abnormal lab results.
  • Maintain productivity expectations with a patient load of 3-4 patients per hour.
  • Collaborate with health center management and staff.
  • Participate in training and community education.
  • Serve as a resource for client or medical information calls.
  • Document all findings and plans in the electronic medical record.
  • Provide skilled LARC services.
  • Monitor quality and risk management activities.
  • Promote teamwork and professionalism among staff.
  • Cover clinician absences at other sites as needed.
  • Provide on-call coverage after hours.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
