About The Position

The Nurse Practitioner at Sun River Health is responsible for delivering comprehensive primary, preventative, and behavioral health services to patients, particularly focusing on underserved communities. Requirements

• Master's Degree in Nursing or related field.
• Valid license as a Nurse Practitioner in New York State.
• CPR/BLS certification.
• 5-8 years of work-related experience, including 4 years in a business office setting, preferably in a large medical practice.

Nice To Haves

• Bilingual in both English and Spanish (orally and written) is preferred.
• 8+ years of work experience in a healthcare setting.

Responsibilities

• Takes patient histories and performs physical examinations.
• Administers immunizations as necessary and provides patient education and counseling.
• Orders appropriate lab work and performs some lab tests such as wet prep microscopic exams.
• Prescribes treatment for minor illnesses and consults with physicians regarding medication and referrals.
• Maintains accurate and legible documentation and reviews patient records periodically.
• Follows up on abnormal pap smears and reportable STDs.
• Attends case conferences and continuing education programs to enhance skills and knowledge.
• Participates in provider meetings and quality improvement programs.
• Identifies and categorizes each patient's age-specific needs, including infants, adolescents, and geriatric patients.
• Follows OSHA standards of infection control under CDC guidelines.
