About The Position

Functions as an active member of the trauma multi-disciplinary team to coordinate efforts across the health system that maximizes clinical and financial outcomes. Works independently collaborating with trauma physicians. Provides patients with health education and utilizes expertise to determine the most appropriate treatment options. Documents patient encounters in the medical record and the trauma registry. Participates in performance improvement activities for the trauma service. Assists with collecting data for the trauma registry. It is preferred that the ideal candidate maintain active membership with at least one professional clinical organization in order to remain current with new standards of care and best practices that will enable Palomar Health to deliver high quality clinical care. Speak and read English at a level that is sufficient to satisfactorily perform the essential functions of the position. Knowledge of standard office equipment (i.e., calculator, fax, photocopier) and personal computer and computer software skills (i.e., MS Windows, Excel, Access, Word, Powerpoint, internet, e-mail). Windows computer skills including proficient use of keyboarding, use of mouse or keys for functions such as selecting items, use of drop down menus, scroll bars, opening folders, copying and similar operations required upon employment or within the 1st two weeks of employment to perform the essential functions of the job. Performs other duties as assigned. Follows Palomar Health rules, policies, procedures, applicable laws and standards. Carries out the mission, vision, and quality commitment of Palomar Health.

Requirements

  • Minimum Education: As required by certification and/or licensure
  • Minimum Experience: Minimum 5 years clinical experience in trauma care, either in Critical Care or Emergency Department.
  • Required Certification: National Certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner (ANCC or AANP) within 6 months of hire
  • Current Drug Enforcement Agency Number (DEA)
  • Current CA Nurse Practitioner Furnishing Certificate
  • American Heart Association recognized BLS - Healthcare Provider
  • Required License: Current CA Nurse Practitioner License
  • Current CA RN License

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience as an NP in an acute care setting highly desirable.
  • Preferred that the ideal candidate maintain active membership with at least one professional clinical organization in order to remain current with new standards of care and best practices that will enable Palomar Health to deliver high quality clinical care.
