About The Position

This primary care provider works collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team responsible for the provision of quality health care services for students of Ashland University in accordance with standards of professional practice and ethical conduct. This team member provides clinical assessment, diagnosis and treatment for Ashland University students who are seen as patients in the Student Health Center. This is a 9-month position with full-time benefits. Assume ongoing responsibility for the primary care of Ashland University students’ health needs. Provide diagnosis, treatment and follow-up management of common acute illness and injuries and management of stable chronic conditions. Promote health and wellness in areas of lifestyle and behavior that enhance physical, psychological, spiritual and social well-being. Document appropriate, accurate and complete information in the student’s medical record, in accordance with current Student Health Center policies and procedures. Consult with his/her collaborating/supervising physician in an appropriate and timely manner when indicated or required by law. Refer students to collaborating/supervising physician, other health care providers or relevant community agencies, when indicated. Serve as preceptor for Athletic Training students. Provide evaluation, treatment and/or referral of employee occupational injuries. Maintain strict confidentiality of clinical, social, financial or other student/staff data in compliance with university, state and federal guidelines. Communicate effectively with students, parents, physicians and colleagues. Seek opportunities to promote professional and personal growth through available continuing educational activities. Review and maintain Standard Care Arrangement/Physician Supervisory Plan with collaborating/supervising physician on an annual basis (or as required by law). Demonstrate behavior which reflects a positive image of the Student Health Center and the University. Demonstrate team member behaviors. Serve on division and institution-wide committees as assigned.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree required as per certification
  • Three (3) to five (5) years primary care experience
  • Licensed to practice and prescribe in the State of Ohio
  • Certification in his/her specialty by a nationally recognized certification board
  • Education and training as an Advanced Practice Nurse/Physician Assistant required
  • Experience in providing telehealth services
  • Ability to work flexible hours
  • Ability to handle and prioritize diverse tasks
  • Strong communication skills
  • Excellent clinical skills

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced Practice Nurse, certification in Adult or Family Health preferred
  • At least one (1) year College Health experience preferred
  • Experience in sports medicine/orthopedics and/or women’s health preferred
