About The Position

The Nurse Practitioner in Rheumatology at Healthstar Physicians, P.C. is responsible for providing comprehensive medical care to patients with rheumatological conditions. This role involves obtaining medical histories, performing physical exams, collaborating with physicians, and managing both acute and long-term medical needs. The Nurse Practitioner will also be involved in patient education, diagnostic procedures, and maintaining patient records.

Requirements

  • BSN required; MSN preferred.
  • Successful completion of advance practitioner training and certification as a practitioner (general or specialized) from an approved nurse practitioner program.
  • Current state Registered Nurse Licensure.
  • Current CPR Registration.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain complete medical history and physical data on patients.
  • Interpret and integrate data to determine appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
  • Perform complete physical exams and record findings.
  • Collaborate with physicians in managing acute and long-term medical needs of patients.
  • Order appropriate laboratory and diagnostic procedures.
  • Synthesize data to determine preliminary diagnosis and therapeutic plan utilizing principles of prevention.
  • Administer medical and injections according to physician direction.
  • Suture minor lacerations.
  • Evaluate and advise patients regarding health and illness prevention and make recommendations as needed.
  • Interpret tests and examination results under the direction of a physician.
  • Instruct patients and families regarding medications and treatment instructions.
  • Provide patient education as needed.
  • Maintain and review patient's records and other pertinent information.
  • Triage patient telephone calls and provide consultations.
  • Manage medical and surgical emergencies.
  • Knowledgeable of EMR (Athena).
  • Attend required meetings and participate in committees as requested.
  • Participate in professional development activities and maintain professional affiliations.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Perform related work as required.
