Part-time, 24hr day position NEW Health is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), affiliated with MGB, who provides high quality healthcare services to those who live and work in and around Boston's North End and Charlestown neighborhoods. The Behavioral Health department clinicians practice from a person-centered approach, acknowledging there is no “one-size-fits-all” model of treatment. Through celebrating diversity and uniqueness, a personalized approach is co-developed with each person based on dynamic needs. At this time, we need a psychiatric nurse practitioner to join our growing behavioral health practice, be an active member of our integrative care model and actively participate in our primary care-psychiatric consultation model in addition to seeing patients in a longitudinal psychiatric care model. The PMHNP is responsible for the evaluation, diagnostic formulation, treatment planning, and medication management services of patients referred for psychiatric services. They will be expected to document visits and maintain professional, relevant, and clinically and medically necessary documentation. The PMHNP is expected to coordinate care with the multidisciplinary team and provide additional psychiatric consultation as needed and as delegated by the directors of the department. The Nurse Practitioner (NP) is a licensed provider. The NP is responsible for the assessment and management of various populations of patients, including diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, development of appropriate plans of care and ongoing evaluation. This position is a Psychiatric NP and focuses on providing care to patients with mental health disorders.

Requirements

  • Licensure in Massachusetts as Advanced Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner with preferably 2+ years in experience completing thorough psychiatric diagnostic evaluations, formulating diagnoses and treatment plans, initiating and managing medication management.
  • Knowledge and experience with ordering and managing clinically appropriate lab work and working within a diverse patient population with a variety of mental health diagnoses, included but not limited to mood disorders, trauma-related disorders, anxiety disorders, psychotic disorders, substance use disorders, and attentional disorders with and without medical comorbidities.
  • Experience working with adults is required.
  • Experience with coding and billing, in a reimbursement model of care, with volume expectations preferred. Experience documenting in an Electronic Medical Record system (EMR) preferred.
  • Ability to collaborate with an interdisciplinary team of therapists, primary care physicians and other treatment team members.
  • Master's Degree Nursing required
  • Experience as a Nurse Practitioner 0-1 year required
  • Ability to build rapport and establish a strong therapeutic working relationship with clients.
  • Thorough professional knowledge of the practice of psychiatry.
  • Have the ability and training to prescribe to, and manage patients on psychiatric medications.
  • Actively support program goals and system improvements/changes.
  • Nurse Practitioner [NP - State License] - Generic - HR Only required

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct care, counseling, and teaching to a designated patient population.
  • Performs complete histories and physical examinations.
  • Orders, interprets, and evaluates appropriate laboratory and diagnostic tests.
  • Develops appropriate plans of care and follow-up based on the outcomes of diagnostic, laboratory, and physical examination findings.
  • Orders medications and writes prescriptions according to organizational and regulatory policies and procedures.
  • Consistently provides high quality and timely documentation including admission and progress notes, procedure notes, operative notes and discharge summaries.
  • Performs bedside procedures as are appropriate to the patient population.
