About The Position

The Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant is a licensed practitioner who is responsible for managing health problems and coordinating health care for the patient in accordance with State and Federal rules and regulations and the nursing/PA standards of care (assessment of health status, diagnosis, development of plan of care and treatment, implementation of treatment plan, and evaluation of patient status).

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing/Physician Assistant.
  • Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program or Physician Assistant Program.
  • Current Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) Licensure (if Applicable).
  • Current CNOR/CRNFA (if applicable) certification.
  • Current provider card in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS); PALS provider card as required by department and facility.
  • Strong computer skills.

Nice To Haves

  • CPR Certification.
  • Previous EMR experience.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in the Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant role.
  • Current Nurse Practitioner certification in specialty area.

Responsibilities

  • Functions independently to perform age-appropriate history and physical for patients.
  • Orders and interprets diagnostic and therapeutic tests relative to patient’s age-specific needs.
  • Prescribes appropriate pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatment modalities.
  • Analyzes patient data to determine health status, verifies diagnosis based on findings.
  • Designs a plan of care to attain/promote, maintain and/or restore patient health.
  • Facilitates the patient’s transition to appropriate medical doctor for surgical intervention.
  • Collaborates with multidisciplinary team members by making appropriate referrals.
  • Facilitates staff, patient and family decision making by providing educational tools.
  • Maintains a positive culture within the health care system.
  • Reports to work on time and willing to stay late if necessary to provide patient care.
  • Maintains the Electronic Medical Record System timely and efficiently.
  • Performs procedures when necessary.
