About The Position

We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Allergy and Asthma Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant to join our dynamic team. If you are passionate about patient care and have expertise in allergy and asthma management, we would love to hear from you. As an Allergy and Asthma NP/PA, you will be responsible for providing direct patient care, performing assessments, diagnosing, and managing the treatment of patients with allergic conditions, such as allergic rhinitis, asthma, eczema, food allergy, amongst others. You will work collaboratively with our physicians, nurses, and support staff to provide comprehensive, high-quality care tailored to each patient's needs. The ideal candidate must be a self-motivated and eager individual who will establish him/herself in a practice that enjoys continuous growth. Must have excellent communication skills, bedside manner, and a strong work ethic with a desire to be part of a team that is committed to caring for the whole patient. This role is exempt (salary) and full-time, working 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday with minimal travel. The anticipated start date for this position is approximately 2–3 months from the date of the offer. Please note that the official start date is contingent upon completion of credentialing.

Requirements

  • Master’s (MSN) or Doctorate (DNP) in Nursing from an accredited program.
  • Certified as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) by ANCC or another recognized board.
  • Must pass a national certification exam (e.g., ANCC’s Family Nurse Practitioner exam).
  • 0–3 years of NP/PA experience.
  • Active California NP or PA license.
  • Active California RN license.
  • DEA registration for prescribing medications.
  • BLS certification (required); ACLS certification (preferred).
  • Must complete certification with the California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN).
  • Strong clinical assessment skills and the ability to diagnose and manage complex conditions.
  • Ability to start IVs and knowledge of IV infusions
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to educate and empower patients.
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a collaborative team.
  • High level of professionalism, confidentiality, and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in allergy, asthma, respiratory care, or pulmonology preferred.
  • Pediatric and adult care experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate patients with allergies, asthma, and related conditions through exams, history taking, and diagnostic testing (e.g., skin and lung function tests).
  • Supervise and manage in-office procedures, including food and drug challenges, and immunotherapy treatments (oral and sublingual).
  • Create personalized care plans, including starting allergy and food immunotherapy or recommending food/drug challenges.
  • Prescribe medications and suggest lifestyle changes to manage symptoms.
  • Educate patients and families on allergy and asthma care, medication use, and trigger avoidance.
  • Track patient progress and update treatment plans as needed.
  • Share responsibility for managing oral immunotherapy (OIT) patients, including rotating OIT call coverage.
  • Treat in-office allergic reactions under physician supervision.
  • Work closely with allergists, pulmonologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and effective patient care.
  • Assist in performing office procedures such as allergy testing and desensitization therapies.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute to patient care decisions.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to nursing and clinical staff.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest evidence-based practices in allergy and asthma management.
  • Educate patients on new treatments and interventions, ensuring they are well-informed.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in compliance with healthcare regulations and practice protocols.
  • Assist with the coordination of follow-up care and referrals to specialists when needed.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
