NP/PA FT position available Under the supervision of the Director of Nursing for Perioperative Services, the Department of Surgery Manager for Advanced Practice, and the attending physician, the APP will provide surgical first assistance during procedures. In addition to direct patient care, responsibilities include documenting care, adhering to hospital and nursing policies, educating patients and staff, and participating in performance improvement initiatives. The APP will support the OR team by performing any necessary tasks that enhance surgical efficiency and quality. In emergencies, the APP will initiate appropriate evaluation and treatment. NPs and PAs will demonstrate clinical competence, superior verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal effectiveness and customer relation skills, computer competence and must have an active desire to learn. The APP will participate in the education of learners (students and new employees), using clinical learning experiences, knowledge sharing and skill training. Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited APRN or PA program
  • Licensure as an Advanced Practice Provider
  • Current RNFA certification (for APRNs only)
  • BLS certification from the American Heart Association
  • Nurse Practitioner Require a Master's degree as a Nurse Practitioner, an active New York State Registered Nurse license in good standing, an active New York State Nurse Practitioner licensure in good standing and current national certification as an Nurse Practitioner.
  • Physician Assistant Required completion of an ARC-PA approved Physician Assistant program, an active New York State Physician Assistant licensure in good standing and current national certification as a Physician Assistant by NCCPA (National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants)
  • Demonstrate clinical competence, superior verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal effectiveness and customer relation skills, computer competence and must have an active desire to learn.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to work effectively in a dynamic, complex environment
  • Proficiency in surgical aseptic technique
  • Previous experience in one or more of the following specialties: General Surgery, OB/GYN, Urology, Colorectal, Thoracic, Surgical Oncology
