About The Position
Wellstar Medical Group is seeking an APP to lead an outpatient medical weight loss clinic in collaboration with a multi-specialty group of providers at the Center for Obesity and Metabolism at Wellstar MCG Health in Augusta, GA. This APP will provide access to our medical and surgical weight loss program and see patients in our bariatric surgery practice five days a week in an outpatient setting. In addition, this APP will input all weight loss patients in the verfication application called Sequence, assist with imaging and lab testing results, and participate in tumor board.
Responsibilities
- Manage new referrals to center for obesity and metabolism including both medical weight loss and bariatric surgery
- Examine patients and make diagnoses to determine the need for medication or surgery
- Review patient medical history and plan the best procedure for treatment in consultation with physician lead when necessary
- Evaluate and advise patients on the risk involved with and alternatives to having surgery
- Complete all preparatory steps for surgery including obtaining informed consent, working with clinic schedulers and RNs to schedule surgery with a pool of surgeons and provide preoperative education
- Perform postoperative visits for select patients at the discretion of the operating surgeon
- Perform ambulatory procedures for a variety of general surgical diagnoses including anorectal disease, lipomas, other excisional biopsies
- Assist in promoting activities and programs for the center of obesity and metabolism as well as general and minimally invasive surgery, and provide appropriate educational materials.
