Work Schedule: 100%, day shift working 4-10 hour shift, Monday through Friday. You will work at University Hospital in Madison, WI. Weekend hours may vary based on operational need. As an Advanced Practice Provider, you'll play an integral role in our care teams by providing high-quality, cost-effective care to patients. We are seeking a Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant to: Provide advanced inpatient cardiac care for cardiac surgery patients Preop orders and postoperative transplant care Participation in Heart Failure/Shock team protocols Participation in multidisciplinary rounds, review for appropriate billing Clinical Management of Advanced Therapies- Impella, ECMO, LVAD Complex wound management, chest tubes, pacing wires, sternal closure monitoring Outpatient participation for patient work-up and continuity of care Preoperative evaluation- VAD and transplant candidacy Participate in transplant selection conference Coordinate care from inpatient to outpatient transplant clinic

Requirements

  • If Nurse Practitioner: Master’s or Doctorate’s degree from accredited Nursing Program.
  • If Physician Assistant: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from accredited PA Program.
  • If Nurse Practitioner: Active RN and APRN certifications and licenses, including prescriptive authority, in state(s) of practice AND Active board certification as a NP in area of clinical practice. These may include the following: Adult/Gero Acute Care
  • If Physician Assistant: Active PA license, including prescriptive authority, in state(s) of practice AND Active PA board certification
  • All Nurse Practitioner and Physician Assistant applicants must have: Active DEA license or ability to apply for such license prior to or upon hire

Responsibilities

  • Provide advanced inpatient cardiac care for cardiac surgery patients
  • Preop orders and postoperative transplant care
  • Participation in Heart Failure/Shock team protocols
  • Participation in multidisciplinary rounds, review for appropriate billing
  • Clinical Management of Advanced Therapies- Impella, ECMO, LVAD
  • Complex wound management, chest tubes, pacing wires, sternal closure monitoring
  • Outpatient participation for patient work-up and continuity of care
