About the position

Stanford Outpatient Urology Clinic is seeking a skilled and motivated Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our dynamic team of Advanced Practice Providers and Attending Physicians. This position provides an ideal opportunity for career growth and specialization within the field of Urology. The Nurse Practitioner (NP) functions under this Nurse Practitioner Job Description approved by the Interdisciplinary Practice Committee (IDPC). The NP provides routine care and management of the patient with acute and chronic complaints, in collaboration with the supervising physician, and through implementation of standardized procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive care in an independent outpatient clinic setting
  • Perform in-office urologic procedures
  • Collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team of APPs and physicians
  • Participate in educational activities and contribute to teaching initiatives
  • Take advantage of ongoing professional development opportunities
  • Evaluate and treat patients with acute, chronic complaints and health maintenance concerns related to specialty
  • Obtain complete histories and perform pertinent physical exams
  • Perform or request and evaluate diagnostic studies as indicated
  • Administer, order, furnish and prescribe medications
  • Order and collect specimens for routine laboratory tests
  • Facilitate the coordination of inpatient and outpatient care and services as needed
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives
  • Provide and coordinate patient teaching and counseling

Requirements

  • Minimum of two years of experience in Urology as an Advanced Practice Provider
  • Strong clinical judgment and procedural skills
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
  • Master's or Doctoral degree in nursing from an accredited college or university
  • Graduate of an NP program accredited by the National League of Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE)
  • Nursing RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure And/Or Compact State Licensure
  • NP - Nurse Practitioner certification
  • NP Furnishing Number
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
