About The Position

Provider covers both NICU and pediatric patients at our Danbury and Norwalk Hospital community sites. Completes thorough but appropriately focused evaluations of term and premature newborns in the delivery room, newborn nurseries, and Level III NICUs, including competent and age appropriate histories and examinations. Rounds with Neonatologists and collaborates on plans of care for premature infants. Performs daily evaluations on babies in the well baby nursery, provides anticipatory guidance to new parents and families. Recognizes which infants need advanced care. Also supports care of pediatric patients in the community setting – completes consultations in the emergency department and cares for pediatric patients, ages 0 to 18 years, on our inpatient unit at Danbury Hospital and ED/Observation unit at Norwalk Hospital with support from PHM and PEM attendings. Collaborates with PHM to formulate a diagnosis and treatment plan as well as providing patient and family education. In all areas: presents thoughtful assessments to the supervising physician and works towards prescribing necessary care plans. Performs appropriate procedures under their responsibility with the appropriate guidance. Knows when and how to seek assistance. Identifies level of illness severity in a timely manner.
