Organization: Pediatric Acute Care Job Summary: Works in collaboration with a multidisciplinary health care team. Provides direct medical care to patients requiring hospitalization. Has didactic education, clinical competency and national certification in identified area of clinical practice. Demonstrates medical knowledge, clinical judgment, technical competence, professionalism, interpersonal communication skills, timely and compliant documentation, and is responsible for professional development and competency validation. Has an advanced knowledge of nursing theory and application. Evaluates the patient to be admitted, summarizes the clinical findings in a history and physical, places appropriate orders for inpatient or observation care and collaborates with the admitting physician for the plan of care. Using a patient centered approach to facilitate patient throughput, the NP positively impacts length of stay and contributes to efforts to increase efficiency in care delivery and discharge planning. Shift Hours are noon to midnight. . Position Hours: Mid-shift (12pm to 12am) Mostly weekdays Occasional weekends and holiday Full-Time Department Summary: The Pediatric Hospital Medicine advanced practice provider (APP) works in collaboration with a multidisciplinary health care team. The APP provides healthcare in the inpatient health care setting with the pediatric hospitalist program, providing acute and chronic care medical management, this includes care for the pediatric behavioral health patient population. Additionally, responsibilities include coordination of inpatient care, discharge planning and outpatient follow-up as needed. The APP has didactic education, clinical competency and national certification in identified area of clinical practice. The APP demonstrates medical knowledge, clinical judgment, technical competence, professionalism, interpersonal communication skills, timely and compliant documentation, and is responsible for professional development and competency validation. Service hours are seven days a week, 12 hour shifts, including nights and weekends. Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner - Acute Care CPNP-AC or Physician Assistant PA Prior APP Experience Strongly Preferred $15,000 Sign On Bonus for Candidates with 1 or More Years of Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant Experience The sign-on bonus is not applicable to current VUMC staff or former staff who have worked for VUMC in the past twelve months.
