The Transplant Advanced Practice Nurse or Physician Assistant utilizes a patient-centered coordinated care model, demonstrating competencies in leadership, direct clinical practice, consultation/collaboration, coaching/guiding, research, and ethical decision-making. The APN or PA works collaboratively with the practice/hospital team to assess, plan, and implement care for individuals with health and safety needs. Inpatient Transplant Patient coverage, NIGHTS, weekends as needed. The Transplant Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner assists, monitors, and manages the day-to-day needs of patients as requested by, in conjunction with, and under the supervision of a physician. Ideal candidate would have prior inpatient surgical practice experience, preferably nephrology experience. Full time Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner position. Schedule is flexible however Probable schedule is (3) 13.5 hr shifts/week. Work with a team of specialized surgeons and physician assistants. 24/7 Coverage needed with flexible shifts Evening, Nights & Weekends. Primarily Inpatient care, some Outpatient office coverage. Orientation period 3-6 months. Primarily Kidney and some Pancreas transplants. Previous surgery or organ transplant experience preferred. New Grads welcome to apply. Conduct histories and physicals on transplant candidates. Provide pre and post-surgical care. Collaborate with nephrologists in dialysis planning. Orders lab work and tests in accordance with national standards. Provides education and support to patients and families.
