The position is for a Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant, or Clinical Nurse Specialist in General GI & Advanced Endoscopy at the Cleveland Clinic Main Campus. The chosen candidate will be responsible for seeing both new and established patients in clinic with common diagnoses including acute and chronic pancreatitis, pancreatic masses, biliary tree abnormalities, esophageal cancer, and more. The hours for the position will typically be Monday to Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm without the requirement for nights, weekends, holidays, or call. The ideal candidate will be self-directed, highly motivated, organized, flexible, and possess the ability to work collaboratively across multiple disciplines.

  • Conducts thorough medical histories and performs complete physical examinations.
  • Initiates appropriate lab, radiology tests or other special tests required for evaluation of illness.
  • Performs and interprets common laboratory, radiologic, cardiographic and other routine diagnostic procedures.
  • Performs routine procedures such as injections, immunizations, suturing and wound care.
  • May prescribe and monitor medications as allowed by prescriptive authority.
  • Provides information and answers routine questions of patients regarding their disease.
  • Participates in medical team rounds and collaborates with nursing, medical and other healthcare team members.
  • Refers patients to specialists as appropriate for consultation or for specialized health resources.
  • Ensures continuity of care by serving as a liaison between patient and other members of the multi-disciplinary care team.
  • Participates in quality monitoring through the review of records and treatment plans for patient outcomes.
  • May serve as clinical preceptor for PA/APRN students and other health professionals.
  • Master’s Degree required upon hire for APRN.
  • Graduate of an accredited APRN graduate program.
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse.
  • National certification as Advanced Practice Registered Nurse by a nationally accredited organization.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association required.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification may be required.
  • Current certification as a Physician Assistant through the NCCPA.
  • Licensed by the State Medical Board of Ohio as a PA-C.
  • Two years clinical nursing experience preferred for APRN.
  • Two years relative clinical experience preferred for PA.
  • Demonstrated competency and the ability to perform advanced assessment and diagnosis.
  • Ability to utilize the electronic medical record.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
