About The Position

Geisinger's Neuroscience Institute is seeking a neurology physician assistant or nurse practitioner to join the neurology neuromuscular team at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center in Wilkes Barre, PA. The NP or PA will work primarily in an outpatient clinic setting. An inpatient component may arise if needed. The ideal candidate will perform initial assessment and triage of patients based on information obtained pertinent to presenting condition. They will keep track of pertinent procedure and laboratory results, discuss with the physician, and return calls to family and patients regarding the results and plans. The candidate will assist with arranging appropriate follow-up for the patients, answer and return phone calls from established patients and their families, and assess the needs of patients and families. They will discuss plans with the physician and relay information to the family and patient, as well as obtain or assist in the preauthorization process for medications, diagnostic studies, and treatments.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an ARC-approved physician assistant program.
  • Eligible or certified by the National Commission for the Certification of Physician Assistants.
  • Eligible or certified by the State Board of Medicine.
  • For Nurse Practitioners: Certificate of completion from an approved program for Nurse Practitioners.
  • Eligible for or certified by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.
  • Certified to work with all patient population age groups.
