At the Cooley Dickinson Emergency Department, we care for approximately 35,000 patients every year. We staff the ED with responsive, compassionate medical professionals whose goal is to make sure our patients have the best possible outcome, regardless of their ability to pay. Our advanced practice providers (APPs) encompassing both Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners, work under the supervision and direction of our board-certified emergency medicine physicians to ensure high quality, safe and timely care for patients with various chief complaints. The APP team manages high acuity patients and procedures. They have the opportunity to teach APP students and benefit from our own educational program to develop as a clinician. The APP may assume care for patients of all ages and will support all areas of the department. The APP will also perform medical screening exams and respond to any acute developments during the patients’ stay. Additional staff members include physicians and emergency-care nurses certified in trauma care, advanced cardiac response and pediatric life support. Support teams include technicians, administrative support and patient observers who also assist in providing timely, compassionate care. We are seeking a full-time, 40-hour APP, Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner, to join our Emergency Department at the Cooley Dickinson Main Campus located at 30 Locust St, Northampton, MA. The schedule consists of four, 10-hour rotating shifts per week, including weekdays and 1–2 weekends per month. Providers are also required to work their fair share of overnight shifts per month and cover one major and one minor holiday annually. Job Summary The Physician Assistant (PA) is a licensed provider. The PA is responsible for the assessment and management of various populations of patients, medical and/or surgical, including diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, development of appropriate plans of care and ongoing evaluation.
