About The Position

Working directly with Intensivists to provide care to a specific patient population within the guidelines of written protocols. The role involves performing critical care procedures such as, but not limited to, intubation, arterial lines/central line insertion, chest tube placement and therapeutic bronchoscopy. The position is part of Prisma Health, which aims to transform healthcare for the benefits of the communities served.

Requirements

Master's Degree - Nursing; Nurse Practitioner Degree Emphasis or Program Certificate equivalent.
3 years - Previous nursing experience in a critical care area such as ICU, CCU required.

Responsibilities

Assess patients by performing medical history and physical examination, including the medical, nursing, functional and financial conditions.
Document all assessments in the patient medical record as appropriate.
Order appropriate laboratory tests, x-rays, EKGs and diagnostic procedures based on assessment and follow-up as appropriate.
Write prescriptions/physician order under jointly developed protocols and practice guidelines.
Manage care in collaboration with physicians and other clinical personnel.
Provide consultation to colleagues and allied personnel.
Rounds on inpatients based on directions of the attending physician.
Dictate and document patient history, physical exam and plans of care.
Document admission and discharge notes when appropriate, ensuring that all documentation is clear, complete and legible.
Perform specific invasive procedures, within the scope of advanced practice nursing.
Evaluate the quality of care provided and identify opportunities for improvements in patient care and clinical operations.
Participate in research projects, papers or other publications.
