About The Position

The Pediatric Sedation/ PICC Service Nurse Practitioner (NP) is accountable to facilitate a safe, quality sedation and/or vascular access experience and outcome for patients within a cost-effective time frame. The NP will be responsible to the Medical Director of the Pediatric Sedation/PICC Service and responsible for overseeing the progress of a specific caseload of patients requiring sedation and vascular access services. The NP may also act as an educator, consultant, and liaison to healthcare providers requesting sedation and/or vascular access services, caring for the patients across the care continuum. Requirements

  • Licensure as Registered Nurse in the State of Rhode Island by the Rhode Island Board of Nursing or licensure as a Registered Nurse in accordance with the Nurse Licensure Compact agreement of the National Council of State Boards of Nursing.
  • Masters of Science Degree, Graduate of accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
  • Specialty certification required.
  • Baccalaureate in Nursing.
  • Certified in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
  • Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to pediatric patients with consideration of human development stages and cultural patterns across the spectrum of pediatric health and disease.
  • Two years related experience as RN in acute care hospital setting and preferred 1-2 years experience as a nurse practitioner.
  • Preference for peri-procedural or critical care areas.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates a fundamental grounding in nursing theory and practice with mastery of knowledge of pediatrics.
  • Manages a caseload of patients in partnership with the Sedation team to optimize safe sedation delivery and vascular access, as well as timely completion of required tests and procedures.
  • Provides leadership in the development, validation, implementation, and evaluation of standards, policies, procedures, and critical paths to support the delivery of safe pediatric sedation and vascular access services.
  • Assists the Sedation team to achieve mutually agreed upon Sedation goals by providing necessary support, education and encouragement.
  • Demonstrates advanced physical and psychosocial assessment skills and knowledge of family dynamics.
  • Performs advanced practice skills under the supervision of the Medical Director.
  • Provides expert consultation for clinical issues promoting increased knowledge and skills for the consultee.
  • Facilitates patient/family education in area of expertise.
  • Annually completes mandatory safety infection control, BLS, and ACLS/PALS.
  • Prescriptive privileges per licensure.

Benefits

  • Pay Range: $125,000.00-$158,593.75
