About The Position

Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant - Department of Cardiovascular Medicine, Division of Interventional and Structural Cardiology Mayo Clinic Arizona is seeking a motivated Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant (NP/PA) to join our outpatient cardiology team in the Division of Interventional and Structural Cardiology. NP/PAs within the Department of Cardiovascular Medicine work within care teams comprised of both physicians and NP/PAs working collaboratively. In a care team model, NP/PAs are partnered with physician, nursing, and administrative colleagues to support patient care needs of the team. In addition to supporting team based care, the NP/PA also maintains their own clinic with individual patients. Together, the teams provide care for a wide range of cardiac patients across subspecialities including general cardiology, valve clinic, heart rhythm clinic, advanced heart failure/cardiac transplant clinic, adult congenital heart disease clinic, vascular clinic, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy clinic. Additionally, the APP will collaborate with other subspecialities and primary care both within and outside of Mayo Clinic. In this position, the NP/PA will manage a variety of cardiac diagnoses with an emphasis on structural and interventional cardiology. This includes, but is not limited to complex PCI, transcatheter valve interventions, left atrial appendage closure devices, and PFO closures. Responsibilities include post-hospital follow ups, symptom assessments, longitudinal management, diagnostic review, and development of individualized treatment plans. They will be expected to support the needs of clinic which also include PET stress supervision. There will be opportunities to collaborate with multiple subspecialities, participate in cutting-edge research, and contribute to Mayo Clinic's Bold.Forward.Unbound initiatives. This is a 0.75 FTE (60 hours per pay period) position.

Requirements

  • New Grads will not be considered at this time, 2+ years of APP experience in Cardiology preferred
  • Nurse Practitioner: Masters-prepared graduate of an accredited school of nursing and Nurse Practitioner program. Current AZ RN and APRN license and certification as a FNP, ANP or ACNP.
  • Physician Assistant: Graduate of accredited Physician Assistant program with current PA certification by NCCPA and registration as a PA by the AZ State Board of Medical Practice.
  • Active BLS and ACLS certification from American Heart Association or American Red Cross at start date and DEA registration required
  • Excellent verbal, written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability.
  • Flexibility to adjust schedule to meet patient and staff needs.
  • Ability to manage time and stress effectively and adapt to unpredictable situations within the patient care setting.
  • Strong computer skills in an Electronic Medical Record preferred.
  • Must attest to ability to care for adolescent patients.

Nice To Haves

  • Prefer 2 years of cardiology specific experience.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments, diagnoses, and manage care for patients with a variety of cardiology conditions with emphasis on Interventional and Structural Cardiology
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, including pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions
  • Coordinate diagnostic evaluations and interpret results related to cardiology conditions
  • Educate patients and their families on disease process, management strategies, lifestyle modifications, and medication adherence
