About The Position

Our cardiovascular surgery and transplant NP/PA hospitalist work collaboratively with our medical consultants, surgeons, residents/fellows, nurses, and other staff to provide 24/7 coverage of our recently transplanted heart and lung patients, transplant patients readmitted on the progressive care unit in the hospital, consulting coverage in the ICU, and will cross-cover patients who have recently had cardiac surgery. This role requires timely assessments, interventions, interpretation of diagnostic tests, and management of post-surgical care and acute and chronic medical conditions. Patient and family education about recovery and disease process is also a crucial part of the health promotion for our patients. The patient population the NP/PAs manage includes the adult heart and lung transplant patients, CV surgical patients, and VAD patients in the Progressive Care Units. This position collaborates with talented cardiologists, pulmonologists, surgeons and a multidisciplinary team. This diverse patient population provides you the opportunity to hone your skills in a specialty for continuous learning as you care for these patients. Shifts are 13-hour day/night rotation with every third weekend and 2 holidays per year. Requirements

  • Masters or Doctorate prepared graduate of an accredited school of nursing and Nurse Practitioner program.
  • Current Minnesota RN license and certification, or eligible to be certified, as a ACNP or ANP.
  • Or Graduate of accredited Physician Assistant program with current PA certification by NCCPA and registration as a PA by the Minnesota State Board of Medical Practice.
  • Registration with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) is required.
  • Certain specialty positions may require additional advanced certification (BLS, ACLS, ATLS, etc.)
  • Inpatient graduate rotations at minimum are required.
