About The Position

WANDER STAFFING is seeking two telework Nurse Practitioners (NPs) or Physician Assistants (PAs) for the Navy Recruiting Command (NRC), Medical Accession Waiver Division. The NRC N33 Medical Accession Waiver Division is responsible for ensuring Navy applicants are physically and mentally capable of carrying out the Navy mission, respective occupational duties, are deployable worldwide, and reviews medical records of both enlisted and officer applicants applying for entrance into the Navy. This is a remote telework position with occasional, reimbursed onsite travel for orientation and training. The contract duration is 5 years, with a start date of June 1, 2026, offering flexibility for notice periods and security/credentialing.

Requirements

  • Current, valid, unrestricted NP Or PA license in any state, DC, PR, or a Territory of the U.S.
  • NP Board Certification or NCCPA certification required
  • US Citizen
  • Be able to fluently read, write, and speak English

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience conducting duty status reviews and/or working waiver cases for the DON is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Conduct medical record reviews and make medical recommendations for accession into the Navy for enlistment and commissioning, or retention into Special Duty designators or Navy Enlisted Classifications (NEC).
  • Complete a review of all cases submitted within their scope of training and provide a medical recommendation utilizing the electronic waiver system and external tracking systems as deemed appropriate.
  • Manage a caseload including Navy enlistment waivers, Navy commissioning waivers, Special Duty assignment reviews, and Reconsideration reviews of previously adjudicated cases.
  • Perform independent reviews for appeal cases and quality assurance or inter-rater reliability reviews.
  • Apply accession and retention standards when reviewing all submitted cases.
  • Complete a minimum of 3 cases per hour, with some variation due to case complexity and technology infrastructure constraints.
  • Review and make medical recommendations on packages submitted for all programs that are managed by the CNRC Waivers Division, using the electronic waiver system (currently Webwave II) and other supporting computer-based systems or interfaces.
  • Ensure all routine case submissions have a completed SR review within two business days from the time of receipt in the SR queue.
  • Adhere to specific timelines for other case types: Urgent (same day if submitted prior to 1530 CST), Expedited (within 1 hour if submitted prior to 1530 CST), Special Duty (within two business days), and Reconsideration cases (within 3 business days of submission of new documentation).
