Requirements

• Physician’s Assistant Program graduate
• Three or more years of experience in the specific area of treatment
• Licensed as a Physician’s Assistant to work in the state of employment

Responsibilities

• Preoperative histories
• Physical examinations, medication reconciliations, order, and compile necessary medical tests
• Post-operative follow-up care
• Order X-Rays, electrocardiograms, laboratory tests, and other diagnostic procedures
• Injections, immunizations, suturing, and wound care
• Triage patient calls
• Make rounds, assess patients’ well-being, document notes and orders, and dictate discharge summaries
• Liaison between physician and patient/family
• Maintain adequate exposure in the operating field; cutting sutures, clamping, ligating bleeding vessels, suturing, and lacerations
• Start intravenous solutions, inserting tubes, and performing pap smears
• Document all activities/interventions, patient/family responses, and medication dispensed or prescribed
• Answer patient telephone calls for referral to the appropriate provider(s)
